5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT   December 24, 2008
I love this series so much.br /br /The underlying idea is very simple: take the plays off the page and they make sense to all students -- the high flyers and the ones with reading difficulties. Within these books are activities and projects that are bite-sized. They allow the script to be performed and/or analyzed and/or experienced WITHOUT the students having to undertake a full-blown performance. br /br /AND there is no dumbing down of the text. br /br /AND you can use a little from these books or every page. br /br /BUT your students need to have the skills to work in groups.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous resource for teaching Shakespeare   November 11, 2008
I just bought this to teach a Shakespeare co-op and have been *so* pleased. One of my co-teachers saw some of the activities that we were doing and had to get her own copy.br /br /I think this is an essential resource for teaching Shakespeare without making it "boring." One caveat: We have been doing the first play in the book, "A Midsummer Night's Dream," so we have not used the activities for the other two plays.br /br /I must admit that I didn't love every activity in the book, but I found plenty to use with my students. Some of the activities seemed a little simplistic, but most were wonderful. You need to understand that I used this book as a resource along with many others (including my own experience after studying Shakespeare for years), so I did not use it in the format in which the book is set up (it has daily exercises that you can do over a month or more).br /br /All in all, I loved this resource, would use it again, and buy others in this series. I highly recommend using the activities in the Cambridge student versions of the Shakespeare plays in addition to this book.br /br /

5 out of 5 stars Great starting place for planning!   August 8, 2008
Getting high school students interested in Shakespeare seems to be the test of any English teacher, and this book provides a great starting place. I used this to help me design my calendar with timing, and I borrowed several lesssons. I found it to be both practical and adaptable. I definitely recommend this book to teachers starting Shakespeare units.

5 out of 5 stars Great teaching resource   July 19, 2008
This is a great resource for any English teacher planning to teach one of these 3 plays. The lessons are very well-written and creative with step-by-step instructions! Excellent resource for any teacher who wants his or her students to learn through performance!
